The city of Pilsen is located in the western part of the Czech Republic and, with its 175,000 inhabitants, is the fourth largest city in the country and the second largest in Bohemia. Thanks to its strategic location, it forms a transportation and trade artery between the capital city, Prague, and the Federal Republic of Germany, attracting tourists with its excellent accessibility.
Pilsen is associated with the famous Pilsner Urquell beer.
The secret of its production has been passed down from generation to generation since 1842, and its typical bitter taste can be enjoyed in our restaurant.
In 2015, however, Pilsen also became known as the European Capital of Culture, convincing its visitors that, in addition to beer, it has much more to offer.
This successful project thus became a springboard for Pilsen to build a modern European tourist destination, based on the full utilization of the city’s best values. The city has a large number of tourist attractions, and even the most demanding visitors will find satisfaction here.
Republic Square – once the largest medieval square in Europe. Today it is the center of events – offering spaces for concerts, sports, and other activities.
St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral – the most valuable monument in the historic center. The famous Pilsen Madonna, a masterpiece in the style of the so-called “beautiful madonnas” of Czech Gothic art, can be found on the main altar.
Church Tower – part of the cathedral. It is the tallest in the Czech Republic and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding area.
Renaissance Town Hall – one of the most beautiful town halls in the country. In the main hall, a three-dimensional model of the historic city center can be seen.
Great Synagogue – the largest in the country, the second largest in Europe, and the fourth largest in the world. It reminds of the once numerous and prosperous Jewish community in Pilsen. Its interior hosts concerts and exhibitions.
Historic Underground – nearly twenty kilometers of corridors, cellars, and wells form one of the largest underground complexes in Central Europe. It offers tourists a glimpse into medieval life beneath the city. The tour includes a tasting of Master beer (for those over 18).
Pilsner Brewery Museum – housed in the original medieval brewing house from the 15th century. It tells the story of beer from ancient times to the rise of large industrial breweries. The tour includes a tasting of Pilsner Urquell beer (for those over 18).
Garden Circuit – created on the site of demolished city buildings. It surrounds the historic center and invites you to relax in one of the many cafes.
Puppet Museum – commemorates the long tradition of puppetry in the Pilsen region. Visitors can see puppets and puppet theaters. The exhibits are not only for viewing; visitors can also play theater with some of the puppets.
Techmania Science Center and 3D Planetarium – located on the grounds of the Pilsen Škoda factory. They offer informal and fun exploration of the world around us for the whole family.
Zoo and Botanical Garden – houses the largest variety of animal species among all Czech zoos. In the summer months, a train runs from Republic Square.
Dinopark – a unique amusement park for the general public. It features 30 sound-equipped models of prehistoric animals in life-size.
Loos Interiors – A unique architectural gem is the collection of eight preserved apartment interiors by Adolf Loos.
